308 wins golden award

We don’t like to boast, but some things are too good to keep secret! The Peugeot 308 has won Germany’s prestigious ‘Goldene Lenkrad’ Award for best compact car.A panel of racing drivers, motor industry professionals and celebrities judged the car on design, comfort, safety and environmental friendliness. And they awarded it gold over models including the Toyota Auris, Kia C’eed and Subarau Impreza. One of the main criteria the cars were compared on was style. And the judges found this aplenty in the 308 range. Features include a panoramic ‘Cielo’ glass roof, RT4 Multimedia system, ergonomically designed dashboard and cruise control. The 308’s Michelin energy saving tyres and class leading engines –designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions – also helped it to the top spot. But not only has the 308 been recognised by German automotive experts for its quality, there’s currently a fantastic offer on the range. If you buy a 308 S 1.4 VTi 95 3-door, Peugeot is offering a complimentary specification upgrade† to a 308 Sport 1.6 VTi 120 3-door.This step up in model – worth around £1,500 – includes 17-inch alloy wheels, full body coloured exterior, radio / CD player with MP3 compatible CD reader and cruise control.Peugeot also has similar upgrade offers on many 308 models – all at no extra cost to you. Peugeot 308 S HDi 90 drives round the M25 - on less than £10!

We’re all fed up of rising fuel prices. Especially as the average cost of petrol and diesel soars beyond £1.00 a litre. But Peugeot has the solution to this money drain in the form of the new 308 hatchback. And not only does it go easy on your pocket, it’s also kinder to the environment. In a recent road test, a five-door Peugeot 308 S HDi 90 was driven on a complete circuit round the M25 motorway. In a demonstration of its efficiency, the 117 mile journey was done on less than a ‘tenner’ of fuel – £9.95 to be exact. The test was carried out under ‘real’ conditions: the car carried a driver and one passenger, averaged a speed of just over 50mph, and started with the weight of a full tank of diesel fuel. And the results were impressive. It returned 58.8mpg in wet and windy conditions, using just 1.99 gallons of diesel* for the journey.‘The M25 exercise was a simple demonstration, but our results have a serious economic message to motorists’, said Peugeot Product Manager Steve Lambert.Another bonus is the 308 HDi 90’s CO2 emission figure of 120g/km. This means a reduction in annual road tax bills to just £35 – and makes the car exempt from the new £25-a-day London Congestion Charge which will be introduced for ‘gas guzzling’ vehicles from October. In order to claim the £0 charge, drivers are required to register with Transport for London and pay an annual £10 fee. And from April, the 308 S HDi 90 will also qualify for the lower rate of 10% BIK tax.NOTE: *In the road test, just 1.99 gallons of diesel fuel was consumed. The fuel, bought at a motorway service station, cost £1.10 per litre – meaning the end cost was £9.95.

Renault UK: CV show 2008 preview

Renault at CV Show 2008 – Stand 310, Hall 11
To cope with its ever-burgeoning van range and to also put the spotlight on the eagerly anticipated New Kangoo Van range, Renault will be taking its largest ever stand at this year’s CV Show from 15 to 17 April, with a 1,000m² display – over a third larger than in 2007. In addition to New Kangoo Van, several other vehicles will also be making their first UK appearances: Trafic Sport, Trafic Refrigerated Van, Trafic and Master Navigation special editions.
Following its highly successful world debut at the European Road Transport Show in Amsterdam last October, the star of the stand will be the New Kangoo Van range, shown in both standard and short wheelbase versions.
Fresh from its appearance at the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in early April, Renault’s latest Formula One Championship contender, R28, as piloted by Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet Jr., will also add a touch of high-performance sparkle and glamour to proceedings.

New 3 year/100,000 mile warranty for Trafic and Master at Waters

New 3 year/100,000 mile warranty for Trafic and Master at Waters
As announced last week, with effect from 1st January 2008, Renault’s Trafic and Master ranges will now be sold with a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty. The new terms reflect the company’s commitment to quality after ten consecutive years of European LCV market leadership, as well as bringing both vehicles in line with New Laguna, which was the company’s first product to benefit from the extended warranty terms in October last year.
Applicable to every Trafic and Master van, Renault factory conversion, Commercial Passenger Vehicle and base vehicle for converters, registered in the UK from 1st January 2008, the improved warranty now offers 3 years/100,000 mile protection in place of the previous 60,000 miles. The first two years mileage is unlimited, unlike one of its major rivals, Vauxhall, which offers just one, while the third is valid up until the end of that year or 100,000 miles, whichever arrives sooner. Also making ownership ever easier, Renault offers three years free AA cover, as opposed to just 12 months Vauxhall Assistance.
